It may have been the highlight of Chris Sabin’s 17-year
wrestling career. And it came “at the worst time possible.”

It was July 18, 2013, and, Sabin, who mostly had been known as
a tag team wrestler before being sidelined for two years with an injury,
found himself in the unlikely position of challenging Bully Ray
for the Total Nonstop Action Wrestling world heavyweight
championship. And to the surprise of most fans, he won.

Sabin, who held the title for about a month, to this day believes
the intent behind putting the belt on him was “shock for shock’s sake.”

“I wouldn’t have chosen my world title run to go that way if I
was choosing my ideal way. But you can’t regret things like that or dwell on them,”
Sabin said. “I was just disappointed in everything, with the
exception of the 1-2-3. When that happened and I heard the crowd,
that was really cool — one of the coolest moments of my career.
So I’m still grateful for the experience.”

Chris Sabin speaks exclusively with Solowrestling and review
his career at ROH, TNA and his future as part of The Motor City Machine Guns.

The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin)
through one of the best moments of his career.
The 9 of March, in the event 16 Anniversary
of Ring of Honor (ROH), will meet with the brothers
Briscoe (Mark & Jay). In the face of this struggle so important,
the Solowrestling.com team has been in contact with one of their members,
Chris Sabin, to talk about the present and the future of the team.

Chris Sabin is an experienced professional wrestler of 36 years of age.
Raised in the city of Michigan and with more than 15 years of
experience behind them, Sabin has become name within
the circuit thanks to his work in companies such as ROH, TNA Wrestling,
Pro Wrestling Guerilla (PWG) or New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW).
Beyond its achievements in the division in couples,
Chris Sabin has been X-Division Champion and World in TNA.

From the beginning you've worked for ROH AND TNA,
what differences are found between the two companies?

"In ROH, there is much more freedom, creative and above the ring.
Everything was revised when fighting in TNA. The key is that freedom.
The higher your freedom, the better you will be able to express yourself
and show you. This is what makes everything is natural and
that the product is better. The biggest difference was".

You worked for ROH during their early years. In all that time,
the format has changed a lot, What would you most like in the early days of ROH?

"The best thing was to see the company grow. It is always great
to be a part of something as well, especially if it starts something
relatively small. I exprimentarlo with TNA and, luckily, during that time,
also struggled in ROH, once in a while.

My first match for ROH was in 2003, it is curious that not
come to full-time work for them until 2015. This has been the best,
see how far you've come the company, especially this last year."

Final Battle Results

With more than 30 years of experience between them,
the Motor City Machine Guns are accustomed to new challengers.

On Friday, December 15, from the Manhattan Center’s
Hammerstein Ballroom at 9 p.m. ET live on pay-per-view,
Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin will defend their Ring of Honor
Tag Team championship against a team with eyes on knocking them
from their throne — Best Friends, Chuckie T and Beretta.

“I’m pretty stoked about it. It’s a new match for us,”
Shelley said. “I think the world of them as a team.”

“It’ll be a great tag match. Of course Alex Shelley and I are the champions,
we’re the best. Fans are in for a treat. A great scientific tag team match
that’ll be highly entertaining,” Sabin added.

With the tag titles on the line, the Motor City Machine Guns
will yet again battle for the claim of top team in Ring of Honor.
Rising to the top has been a long winding road
that started in Detroit, Michigan.

“You tell people you want to be a pro wrestler
and people kind of laugh it off.”
Only separated by two years from their in-ring debut,
Shelley and Sabin grew up watching WWF wrestling.

Understanding they’d never be a giant, bruising wrestler,
both up-and-comers gravitated toward high-flyers.

For Sabin, he spent much of his early career watching how the
cruiserweights wrestled, whether it be in America, Japan or Mexico.
Like a sponge, he wanted to watch as much as he could
and learn as much as he could.

Sabin would help pave the way for how his and Shelley’s career would develop.

“He was an up-and-coming guy as I was still training.
He was one of the first guys to truly be an incredible athlete
around here. You’re talking about the transition period from the
late 90’s-early 2000’s into a more streamlined athleticism.
The Michigan independent scene was dominated by guys who were
more acclimated to 80’s-90’s style wrestling,” Shelly said.
